A New Look ... o.k., another new look

I found that I was having a hard time reading the posts when they were on the black background. I thought I would switch it up a bit. Any thought?

The Hubster

One of the not so random things in my house.

I'm Sold!

I posted a day or so ago about the DailyLit site I had found.

I ordered the book "Three Martini Playdate" to be sent to me in installments.

Well friends, I am sold!

Not only on the book - super funny but still practical ... to a certain extent.
I've laughed out loud a number of times.

But the site is super cool too.
They send me my installment, it takes about 5 minutes to read, I can just click a link if I want the next instalment right away, or I wait until the next day for it to come as scheduled.

They have a whole collection of free books as well.
So if you have been trying to figure out how you'll fit rereading Antigone into your already too full schedule - here's your answer baby.

I feel like something is missing

Sadly, my camera has to be sent off for repairs.
I think it may have something to do with the last picture I took. ;-)

I feel naked without my camera

Whatever shall I do?
I may have to dig into the archives for pix to post.

From the WTF Are They Thinking File

Jill, Mother of 2 boys, from Northwest Iowa
My kids really enjoy this!I bought this as a replacement because our cat chewed through the cord of our original. Both of my boys love to have "cool" tattoos. When the first one was ruined, they were devastated! I quickly got a replacement ordered. My 10 year old loves to do them himself and my 4 year old likes me to put one on his arm so he can be like his brother! I think the machine works well and gives kids a chance to be creative and cool!
Candice, mother of two, from rural Vermont
Just what my son wantedRequires parental supervision, and unfortunately for my children, the tattoos aren't permanent!

"I read an article about a book"

So started the conversation I had a few nights ago with a girlfriend.
Before I had finished, she said "Isn't it sad that's as far as we get? An article about a book - not the book".
Then as I stumbled through the world of del.icio.us I came across an MSN Tech article "The Top 10 Web Sites You've Never Heard Of".
Well if I never heard of them, why would I want to?
The second site of the list is Dailylit. Guess what their little hook is?
"We created DailyLit because we spent hours each day on email but could not find the time to read a book. Now the books come to us by email. Problem solved."
Problem solved indeed!

So I signed up for a free installment of The Three-Martini Playdate by Christie Mellor.

I'll let you know how the service works; and I may host a playdate in the near future - I'll be sure to set up a couple of Gr8 Tat2 stations for all the kids!

O.k. everybody, get out there and read something ... and then tell me how it is.

There's a place in France where the naked ladies dance ...

(click image for a larger view ... if you dare ....)

I'm still running with Sue's food challenge.

Call me crazy.

Say I'm smoking something.

But to me it looked like a snake's head.

It is really just a sheet of carmel - the kind you wrap apples with.

I added snake texture to it in PS.

ne ne ne ne ne, ne ne ne ne ne ne ne .....

I have a few others that feature prehistoric strawberries and carmel sculptures, but they will have to wait. One of my shows is on.

I've Got An Idea!

Just kidding.

In fact, I was pretty much devoid of ideas.

Wanted to try out some new lighting techniques - grabbed the first thing I could find.

Did I, or did I not, say that I would take and share shots of random stuff around my house?

Can you get more random than tiny lightbulbs?
I'll be taking request this week ... what obscure (keep it clean) thing would you like me to shoot this week?

Enough With The Sugar Already!

All the food in my house seems to be covered in red, pink, and white colored sugar.
Here is a little sample:

Happy Valentines Day!

Give us a kiss!

Some Valentine tidbits:

According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for Christmas.)
Approximately 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women. In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.
Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages (written Valentine's didn't begin to appear until after 1400), and the oldest known Valentine card is on display at the British Museum. The first commercial Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Howland, known as the Mother of the Valentine, made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as "scrap".

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Shots

... when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I can't go outside;
I simply look through my archive of shots, and then I don't feel so bad.

I hope you could all hear Julie Andrews' voice when you read that.
(Lisa, you gotta love it, right?)

I've not shot anything new in so long. I'm in a funk. I need some inspiration.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy some of my favs pulled from the archive.

What child is this, who lays to rest in front of a super cool mirror?

I've Been Pimping My Blog

I am just a little too curious about all the neat little widgets etc that are available for blogs. I think I need an intervention. In the past few days, I have added:

  • RSS feed
  • Email subscription (get on board people)
  • Two new blog headers
  • A fortune cookie widget (since removed - didn't really look like a fortune cookie)
  • A slideshow (wish all that marketing gobblygook wasn't around it. I like the 8mm look, but the junk makes it almost unabearable to look at. I think its days are numbered) I had to move that thing to the bottom of the page! All the marketingjunk on it gave me a headache everytime I looked at it. Still like the 8mm feel - gotta find another way ....
  • A Jackson Pollock widget that I think is most cool (click to change color)
  • A del.icio.us link list (a peek into the places I call favorites)
  • A visitors widget down at the bottom (which I think will only bring shame and embarassment - because I think I have only 2, maybe 3, actual visitors). I removed this today because it didn't seem to be working.

Anyone else pimping their blogs?
What gadgets and gizmos ... or widgets do you like?

Do you, you, feel like I do?

I know I usually post shots I took, but I've been channeling some Frampton today...

Do you feel like I do?
I feel like I want some good weather - by good I mean 60+ and sun.
I feel like I want some new t.v. shows. I can't stand another Flava of Love season.
I feel like I wish we had a monarchy so I wouldn't have to deal with all this election BS.
I feel pissed off a lot.

So? How do you feel?
